Childhood immunisation program
To protect millions of Australians from vaccine-preventable diseases, the Australian Government funds routine childhood vaccinations, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and more.
In order to receive both Childcare Benefit and Family Tax Benefits, the government requires you to keep these vaccinations up to date – or have a medical exemption. Children under 10 years’ old, with a Medicare card, receive free vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program Schedule.
