'better living, better health' a plan for community health and wellbeing
Our five Constituent Councils are working together to plan for community health and wellbeing.
This type of public health planning provides an opportunity for our Constituent Councils to adopt a coordinated approach to promoting public health in the region.
It also addresses the requirement of the SA Public Health Act 2011 for councils to prepare Regional Public Health plans that consider local priorities and their region’s unique economic, social and environmental conditions.
'Better Living, Better Health' (PDF), the first Public Health and Wellbeing Plan for EHA and its Constituent Councils, provides a foundation for documenting the regional state of health and strategic directions for improving community wellbeing. EHA and its Constituent Councils are committed to continually reviewing this Plan every five years.
Regional Planning Framework
This plan formalises the existing, successful collaboration for shared environmental health protection services through EHA, as well as the individual and collective health and wellbeing initiatives of the Constituent Councils. A regional approach improves the capacity to collectively engage with potential partner organisations, and to recognise opportunities for joint advocacy. The Eastern Regional Public Health Plan Advisory Committee, comprising Elected Member and staff representatives of EHA and our five Constituent Councils, provided overall guidance on the plan development.
